USA 250

Welcome to YCFLD’s celebration and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration on Independence. We have several exciting activities and experiences coming to your library this year!

USA 250 Book Collection

USA 250 Book Collection

The USA 250 book collection features influential works, authors, and documents that shaped U.S. history and reflect the diversity of the American experience. It offers a curated sampling rather than a comprehensive selection. Books from the collection are traveling around the county, so come back often to see what’s new! You can also browse the entire collection.

Time Capsule

Please help us decide what will be included in the county’s time capsule. To submit a suggestion, please fill out this form. Suggestions will be vetted by Library District staff and chosen items will be announced in July.

Hands on History Programs

YCFLD branches are welcoming local historians and groups to help us explore how our communities became what they are today.  By understanding our history, we can better guide our communities toward a strong and vibrant future.

Visit your library or explore the YES Calendar to find out which presenters are coming to your library.

Commemorative Library Cards

During last year’s library card design contest, county residents submitted designs for USA 250 library cards. Five winners were chosen and these limited-edition cards and now at any YCFLD branch. You can now update your card to display one of the five winning designs.
