Yavapai County Free Library District Announces Writers in Residence Program
YAVAPAI COUNTY, Arizona. – The Yavapai County Free Library District (YCFLD) is excited to announce its first ever Writers in Residence program, made possible by the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records. This program is funded by federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The Writers in Residence program aims to promote writing in communities by connecting local, professional authors to serve as Writers in Residence at public libraries. During their residency, these writers will spend time at the library composing new works and providing education for community members.
From July to December 2024, YCFLD will host three local authors as our very own Writers in Residence. Lana Buckner will be at Clark Memorial Library from July through September 2024. Zarah Sandall will be at Dewey-Humboldt Town Library from September through November 2024. And The Janimal will be at Clark Memorial Library from October through December 2024.
Our Summer Writer in Residence program will feature local author Lana Buckner, who will be available for one-on-one sessions with community members to provide advice, feedback, pointers, and tips on writing and publishing. In addition, Lana Buckner will also be hosting a series of workshops throughout the summer on topics such as zines, creating comics, and overcoming writer's block.
We are also excited to announce our upcoming Writers in Residence for the fall: Zarah Sandall and The Janimal. Zarah is a proud Indie author who specializes in sci-fi, dystopian, and post-apocalyptic fiction. The Janimal is a multidisciplinary artist who will be utilizing this residency to create long-form comics.
If you are interested in signing up for one of our consultation sessions or workshops with Lana Buckner or learning more about our upcoming Writers in Residence programs with Zarah Sandall and The Janimal, please visit our website http://www.Yavapai.Events or www.YCFLD.GOV/Writers for full details.
We are thrilled to have such talented and diverse writers as our first Writers in Residence and we hope that this program will inspire and support the writing community in Yavapai County.
