Important Library Update

 

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

 

Library Software Migration to Koha

 

We are pleased to announce that the member libraries of the Yavapai Library Network are transitioning to a new software system this June. After a thorough evaluation process, we have selected Koha, a robust platform managed and developed by ByWater. This exciting move will enhance your library experience and streamline our services.

HERE ARE THE KEY DETAILS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

 

Why the Change?

 

Our current library software vendor’s contract expires at the end of June. After careful consideration, we chose Koha as our new system. While Aspen Discovery (the public online catalog) remains unchanged, Koha will be used by library staff behind the scenes.

 

Migration Dates:

 

  • Data transfer for all Yavapai Library Network (YLN) Libraries will begin at 5:00 P.M. on June 14th.

  • The migration process will continue throughout the weekend.

  • On Monday, June 17th, we officially go live with the new library software.

     

Who is Affected?

 

All 59 Yavapai Library Network member libraries will transition to Koha. Our staff is already undergoing training to ensure a smooth transition.

 

Your Information:

 

Rest assured that your user information will transfer seamlessly to the new system. This includes saved lists, history, holds, linked accounts, OverDrive accounts, room reservations, and personal details.

 

Services During Migration Weekend

(June 15th - June 16th):

  • Borrowing materials: Some libraries will be closed on the weekend while others might be open with limited services. Please call your local library to verify whether they will be open and if they will be lending materials. If your library is checking out that weekend, please bring your physical library card as staff will be unable to look you up by name.

  • Self-checkout stations: Unavailable during the migration.

  • Online catalog: Available for searching, but holds cannot be placed.

  • New library cards: Will not be issued until after the migration.

  • Returned items: These will not be checked in until Monday or Tuesday.
